Shoe Secure - exciting new product is launched!

Necessity is the mother of invention.

Desperation took over December 2008 when Muriel Colquhoun’s short coupled, over active horse with a big movement, pulled his front shoes off for the umpteenth time! A solution, if it could not be found, would have to be invented. It was clear from Muriel’s market research that 96%, of those that responded, had similar problems with their own horses losing shoes, and that 91% would be interested in a solution to this age-old problem. An idea for a device that would save time, money, frustration, and stop damage to the horse’s hooves gained a lot of support and wishes of good luck.

ShoeSecure is designed to protect the heels of the horse’s front shoes from being struck by its hind feet. In consultation with leading vets. and farriers, ShoeSecure has been shaped to maximise protection without impacting on the horse’s gait. Precision crafted in a thermoplastic polymer, it is abrasion resistant, tough and durable yet maintains a degree of flexibility, is easily fitted and cleaned. Bespoke studs by SupaStuds hold the ShoeSecure firmly onto the existing front shoes. ShoeSecure is so simple but amazingly, effective, an innovation in horseshoe loss prevention, tested over the past eight months by extreme horses in extreme field conditions with great success.

The science of farriery has advanced immensely, the need for a well-balanced foot with the heels of the horse fully supported by the heels of the horseshoe is vitally important for the ongoing soundness of the horse. The ShoeSecure allows the farrier to properly balance the foot and the shoe providing adequate support for the heels. ShoeSecure is also suitable for some remedial shoes e.g. heart bars.

Shoesecure ® is now a registered trademark. The UK Patent is pending and is expected to go to grant. The launch of ShoeSecure will take place at the BETA International Fair, NEC. Birmingham from the 21st to 23rd February. Please visit us in the New Zone stand no B-2-1.

Quotes:-

"Using Shoe Secure allows the farrier to maintain the normal balance of the hoof, providing appropriate support to the back of the foot without fear of the shoe being pulled off. This in turn helps promote a healthy conformation to the heels, helping protect against concussive injuries and palmar foot pain." "Without ShoeSecure, the farrier is forced to ‘hide’ the branches of the shoe under the heels and this eventually leads to collapsed heels and lameness due to corns and other forms of foot pain."
David Varini AWCF -Current European Champion Farrier
.

"My short coupled young horse used to frequently pull shoes off in the field. Since he has been wearing Shoesecure, he has not lost any shoes at all and his feet are much improved. ShoeSecures are easy to put on and take off and really do work! " Catriona Varini

"The ShoeSecure along with the thickness of the stud heads will gives some degree of elevation. This elevation helps maintain a correct hoof pastern axis and reduce tension on the tendons and ligaments in the distal (lower) part of the limb. Together with the cushioning effect of the shield, these properties help reduce concussion and compression of the heel, thereby preserving good hoof conformation and balance and protecting against heel pain and associated lameness"
