How to search for a Farrier

Farriers Pages is a user-friendly database of farriers that has been built to allow you to search for a farrier quickly and easily.

Searching for a farrier

Using the ‘Find a Farrier’ form (above, right), you must enter at least one criterion to begin your search -

  • Postcode - enter your postcode to find farriers in a specified area
  • Qualification – you may select a desired qualification. An explanation of farriery qualifications can be found here.
  • Name – search for a farrier by name or business name.
  • Freelance – this is a list of farriers willing to work for other farriers on a ‘freelance’ basis such as at particularly busy times or during illness
Click on the red 'search' button to begin...

The search results

  • If you have entered a postcode to search for a farrier results will be returned on a ‘nearest first’ basis and mapped according to their location. You may need to refine the ‘search within’ distance to increase or decrease the number of results returned.

  • Farriers will be listed according to their distance from the specified postcode. If you have not entered a postcode they will be listed in alphabetical order.
  • If you have searched for ‘DipWCF’ – all farriers including those with the AWCF and FWCF will be displayed. This is because the Diploma is now the minimum requirement for entry onto the FRC register. If you have searched for an AWCF, search results will include FWCF and if you have searched for FWCF, only Fellows will be displayed.
  • Farriers displaying a ‘more details’ button have chosen to purchase a web page entry and by clicking on this button you can read more about him/her and their business.

Viewing a web page

  • Farriers can choose to display as little or as much information as they require. They do not have to provide an image.

  • ‘Experience’ is a predefined criterion and therefore is not listed in any particular order. We recommend that you always discuss a specific request with a farrier in detail before making an appointment.
  • ‘ATF’ – approved training farrier. This is a farrier that is approved by the FTA, and has taken the appropriate qualifications, to train apprentice farriers. He or she may or may not currently have an apprentice.
  • CPD – continuing professional development. This states whether a farrier is currently actively engaging in CPD activities.
You can return to the full list of search results by clicking on the 'go back to search results' link on the right hand side above the image area.
