England Farriery Team win the ‘Internationals’

England Farriery Team (l tor): Gavin Golby, Matt Randles, Steven Beane and Andrew CasserlyCongratulations to the Pro Feet sponsored England Farriery Team (Steven Beane, Andrew Casserly, Gavin Golby, Matt Randles and reserve David Smith) who won the NAFBAE 30th International Team Horseshoeing Competition held at Stoneleigh over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Wales (Billy Crothers, Jim Blurton, Grant Moon, Andy Martin and reserve Nigel Brown) came second with Ireland (Paul Duddy, Paul Robinson, Will O’Shaughnessy, Ed O’Shaughnessy and reserve David Lynch) close behind in third.

This year’s competition attracted a total of fourteen teams from around the world; five home teams - England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and the British Army, three from Scandinavia – Sweden, Norway and Switzerland, and four European Teams – France, Germany, Holland and Belgium, together with teams from the USA and Canada.

Outstanding work was produced from start to finish; the competition was more fierce than ever before – reflected by the fact that after three days of shoeing and forging, the top six teams where split by a mere ten points! Perhaps the toughest job of all was that of the two judges - Ian Allison and Rob Renirie.

Welsh farrier Billy Crothers took the Individual Championship title with English team reserve David Smith taking the Individual Reserves title.
